Greetings all,
Hope many of you can come and join us in Nagoya in just a little over three
weeks time. The detailed schedule for the day's events is attached.

The JALT LD (Learner Development) SIG has decided to hold the 2008 LD SIG
Retreat in Nagoya on Sunday 15 June 2008 from 9:30am to 4pm, the day after
the Chubu Region JACET/JALT Joint Conference 2008. The theme of our Retreat
is "Crossing Boundaries: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Learner Autonomy,"
and it'll be held at the Nanzan Gakuen Research Center (5 minutes walk from
Irinaka subway station).

We have a great line-up of speakers, and some fascinating topics! Stacey Vye
will demonstrate "Using Music for Listening and Discussion in the
Classroom," Hugh Nicoll will discuss "Autonomy and Literature," Prisca
Molotsi will help you find your musical self with "Creating Songs in the
Classroom," and Marlen Harrison will explore "Language Learner Identity and
Sexuality."

One-day workshop registration will be 1500 yen, and a yummy optional bento
(which you can order on the day) will cost just 800 yen.

If you'd like to stay Saturday night (14 June) at the Nanzan Gakuen Research
Center, a single room (with shared shower and toilet), and breakfast and
bento on Sunday (15 June) is available for just 4500 yen - register by 30

next door to Chukyo University, where the Chubu Region JACET/JALT Joint
Conference 2008 will be held on that day. Please join us!
