Hi! Thanks and congratulations to everyone who has already registered for the wonderful accommodation deal for the "Crossing Boundaries" retreat on June 14th (overnight at Nanzan Gakuen Research centre with workshops and vegetarian lunch next day at the same centre).
And to remind you others that the deadline to register for this delightful event is May 30th!
There are still spaces left!
If you would like to stay at Nanzan Gakuen on June 14th following the JACET JALT conference and preceding the Learner Development retreat on 15th June, please transfer 4,500 for accommodation (or 6,000 for accommodation plus workshops) to the following account:
Hugh Nicoll, at shinsei Bank, Branch number 400 (Head office), Regular account, Account number 1690285, by 30th May, and e-mail me (Ellen), to say that you have done so!) You can find the kanji for the bank if you look on the poster link at the bottom of this message.
For the Sunday workshops we have a great line-up of speakers! Stacey Vye will demonstrate "Using Music for Listening and Discussion in the Classroom," Hugh Nicoll will discuss "Autonomy and Literature," Prisca Molotsi will help you find your musical self with "Creating Songs in the Classroom," and Marlen Harrison will explore "Language Learner Identity and Sexuality." We're also planning elegant extras such as a morning walk (optional of course) to a nearby temple and some shakuhachi music.
For more information, on the retreat, please download the bilingual poster @ http://ld-sig.org/files/LDSIG.Retreat.pdf
Also, on the Saturday night (14th June) from 8:30pm, Prisca Molotsi will be singing at The Rosetta Stone @ http://r.tabelog.com/aichi/rstdtl/23006343/. This is next door to Chukyo University, where the Chubu Region JACET/JALT Joint Conference 2008 will be held on that day.
Of course you can join us for any or all of it and you could stay in a hotel but the Research centre is cheaper ...... and nicer!
Thanks for reading!
Ellen
PS Remember to e-mail me if you do want accommodation so we can match up people's e-mails with the account and let you know the final details.
Wouldn't do any harm to let me know if you're planning to come on the day either so we can order the right number of cakes!
