I have a feeling that the European Language Portfolio was already
translated into Japanese in Trinity College Dublin some years ago.

Thanks Ellen,

Just a quick reply to let you all know that the forming Framework &
Language Portfolio SIG also consists of two other project teams:
-Creating a framework (CEFR) materials resources/syllabus guides
-Teacher training for using frameworks and Language Portfolios

We plan to work on action plans in between now and March with the aim of
presenting and going over preliminary plans at the seminar in Mid-March.

More general information about the forming SIG is here:
http://forums.jalt.org/index.php/topic,456.0.html

Feel free to pass on this information to possible interested parties and
email if you have any questions/would like to participate in the
upcoming events.

Best regards,

Fergus

Hi everyone
I'd like to draw your attention to an event in Osaka on March 14th and
15th about Portfolio Assessment. Fergus O'Dwyer has formed a group with
the aim of adapting the European Language Portfolio Framework, for use
in Japan, and translating it into Japanese. For me the exciting thing
about the European Language Portfolio approach is that it offers a way
of including oral tasks in the portfolio and generally gets students to
focus on what they can do, and expand it. Here's the message from Fergus
and PS from me:

If you plan to attend the seminar could you please email me

4th.

workshops, case studies and most importantly working on action plans (it
is hoped the project teams will work together between now and mid-March
on action plans with the seminar used to present and discuss the
preliminary results of the action plans). If you have any suggestions
for events at the seminar please contact me or better post on the forum
