Online Get-together Sunday, 12 April

Learner Development SIG Online Get-Together

Sunday, April 12th 2020
Starting 14:30

We hope that you are all well in these difficult times. It’s at times such as these that power of community is more important than ever, so we are happy to announce that the LD get-together will be holding our first ever online get-together this weekend on Sunday April 12th starting 14:30. We would love to see you there!

Considering the state of emergency that has been declared in many areas of the country, we think this meeting would be a good chance for people to share how you are coping with the current situation. In addition, we are sure many of your are currently adjusting to the daunting idea of teaching classes online, so this would be an excellent opportunity for us all to discuss the challenges, ideas, and strategies that we are developing for virtual classroom teaching.

We realize that this is very short notice, but we thought that it would be better to have the meeting sooner rather than later so that participants might have a better chance to incorporate any useful ideas that come up in the meeting.

As this is an online meeting, members for all over Japan are welcome to join, not just the Tokyo area. We also welcome teachers from diverse teaching contexts – including elementary school, junior high school, senior high school, university, distance learning & graduate studies, and language school settings – and teachers teaching languages other than English.

We plan to hold the meeting using the Zoom platform. However, many of you may have heard that Zoom has been having issues with privacy and so-called ‘Zoom-bombing’. Therefore, we are not including the access link to the meeting in this message. If you would like to join the meeting, please send us a message at the following address before 12:00 on Sunday the 12th April and we will send you the access link to the zoom meeting:

Also follow our Twitter account at: @JALTLDSIG to get up-to-date information and take part in further discussions of the topics we discuss in the meeting.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
